" Tri-Ponds Taxidermy was started in 1985 in Glenfield N.Y. by Gregg R. Ielfield.
In 1996 I lost a brother in a hunting accident and this made me go into the bird hunting more. At that point I really noticed that my birds needed a lot of work. I went to every Taxidermy show that I could get to & went to every bird seminar. I really enjoyed learning " how to properly mount a bird and how to make them look soft, alive, & most of all artistic. At that time I was only doing around 10 birds a year. By 2001 I started to really do a lot of sub-contracting (with the help of some taxidermists friends ) and a lot of customer birds , doing around 100 birds a year.
Then in 2000' & 2003' I had 2 little girls. This opened my eyes that this was a business & Hali and Hannahs future. Everyone said that kids would change me. Well it did, for the best. I really slowed down & took my time putting more effort into each mount. In 2008' I mounted 131 Turkeys, 95 Waterfowl, & 55 Upland birds.
I still like to go to the competitions as this pushes me to do better & better. I also take a lot of pride in doing a great bird for a customer. Thanks for your patronage and patience.
I also judge a lot of Taxidermy competitions & do seminars at them. I do like to give back some of my knowledge I have learned over the years.
I still love to watch the fall & spring migrations . If you are
a waterfowl hunter you know what I mean !
I love to hunt birds with my camera as well. This helps me
study the birds at all times of the year.
I really want to thank my wife Julia for pushing me & keeping
me going after Ralph " Dude " was killed. She has really helped me
in telling me how a mount looks. Sometimes I did not liston, But
she was always right. (Thanks honey. I love you.)
I really am looking forward to what the future of taxidermy
will bring to me & my family."
